Eding into the background. Cities are becoming more and more dense, the air more polluted and everyday life more digital. The sight of a landscape in the form of paintings or advertisements on television is more reminiscent of times past.
The relevance of the landscape experience is all the stronger in times of digitalization and the expediency of everyday life. Nature reminds us of where man originally came from. Once we come into nature, we become basically equals. We are not defined by our possessions or job, we are just humans.
During my hike along the St. Olavsweg from Oslo to Trondheim I had the opportunity to experience nature and certain landscapes intensively. The highlight was the Dovrefjell, which is characterized by its almost unlimited expanse and its special vegetation. The atmosphere of these and comparable landscapes can evoke a contemplative state in the subject, similar to the atmosphere of sacred spaces. Moreover, the sight is often associated with a sublime feeling and a certain nostalgia.
Time to occupy oneself with oneself, but also with the nature from which we originate, is rare in today‘s society. Yet it is all the more important not to neglect this, especially now, in a time marked by practicality.
The experience of a landscape like Dovrefjell offers such a possibility and should therefore be staged and complemented by an architecture.
